County Wicklow Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

County Wicklow

Wicklow is known as the Garden of Ireland and rightly so, as it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland, and within easy reach of the capital as well.

It is blessed with stunning and varied scenery, a spectacular coastline and some of Ireland’s best-preserved early Christian remains. The Wicklow mountains - with their domed granite heights, deep glens and wooded valleys - contribute greatly to the county’s attraction, with the highest peak, Lughnaquilla, being a challenging ascent. A visit to the ancient monastic settlement at Glendalough is almost obligatory when you go to Wicklow.

History and Heritage

Wicklow is teeming with history, with stately homes and castles, church ruins and monastic sites in abundance. Glendlalough TowerGlendalough has been a place of religious pilgrimage for centuries and it is still the single biggest visitor attraction in the county.

It has a strong maritime tradition of boatbuilding, fishing and general shipping which is still maintained in Arklow today. It also has connections with the political history of the country through Charles Stewart Parnell who was born in Rathdrum.
